Nepali New Year

The New Year in Nepal begins in Baisakh month, the first month of the Bikram Sambat Calendar. Although there are nine different neighborhoods and local New Year in Nepal as per the ethnic gatherings, Bikram Sambat (B. S.) is the official calendar of Nepal.

Nepalese New Year’s Day is the most celebrated one-day festival in Nepal. The day falls between April 11th and April 15th on the Gregorian calendar.

Although Nepal uses a solar calendar with fixed dates for most, it holds the conventional lunar schedule for religious celebrations, birthday celebrations, and “demise commemorations.”

The New Year festival in Nepal denotes the end of one calendar year and the start of another. The festival is an open occasion in Nepal. It is a day off from work for everybody, and we shut down schools and most organizations.
